Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have routine foot care?
This varies from person to person. Many patients benefit from appointments every 6–8 weeks, while others may need more or less frequent care depending on their individual needs.
Will my treatment hurt?
Routine foot care should be comfortable. If you experience any discomfort during treatment, we'll adjust our approach and explain what we're doing throughout your appointment.
How long does the appointment take?
Routine appointments are approximately 45 minutes, allowing plenty of time to provide thorough treatment without feeling rushed.
Can you cut very thick toenails?
Yes. We routinely manage thickened and difficult-to-cut nails using specialist podiatry equipment designed to safely reduce nail thickness and improve comfort.
Will you remove all of my hard skin?
Our priority is to improve comfort while maintaining the skin's natural protective function. Removing excessive amounts of healthy callus isn't always beneficial, and we'll always explain the most appropriate treatment for your feet.
Can I have routine foot care if I have diabetes?
Absolutely. Patients living with diabetes are very welcome at Blackfords Footcare. The routine treatment you receive may be exactly the same; however, we may recommend enhanced screening and monitoring to assess your circulation, nerve supply and overall foot health. This allows us to identify any changes at an early stage and provide the most appropriate advice and ongoing care based on your individual level of risk.
