  • Respond to enquiries

  • Process payments

Our lawful basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we process your personal information because:

  • it is necessary to provide healthcare services requested by you

  • it is necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations when appointments are booked

  • it is necessary to comply with our legal and professional obligations as an HCPC-registered healthcare professional

  • where applicable, we rely on your consent for optional communications or services

Clinical records and record retention

As a healthcare provider, Blackfords Footcare is legally and professionally required to maintain accurate clinical records.

Your records are stored securely and retained in accordance with UK legislation and the professional standards expected of HCPC-registered podiatrists.

Records are retained only for as long as necessary to meet our legal, regulatory and professional obligations.

Our current retention periods are based on NHS Records Management Code of Practice guidance and professional recommendations, including:

  • Adult patient records: Minimum of 8 years after your last appointment.

  • Children's records: Until the patient's 25th birthday, or 8 years after the last appointment if this is longer.

Following the applicable retention period, records are securely destroyed or permanently deleted where appropriate.

Whilst you have rights under UK GDPR, healthcare providers are legally required to retain certain clinical records for these minimum periods. This means we may not be able to comply with a request to delete clinical records immediately.

How your information is stored

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

Patient records are stored securely using Cliniko, our clinical practice management system.

Access to personal information is restricted to authorised personnel only.

Online bookings and payments

Appointments booked through our website are managed securely using Cliniko, our practice management system. The personal information you provide during the booking process is used to arrange and manage your appointments and forms part of your healthcare record where appropriate.

Where payment is required at the time of booking, transactions are processed securely through Stripe, our trusted payment provider, which is integrated with Cliniko. Blackfords Footcare does not store or have access to your full payment card details.

Both Cliniko and Stripe maintain their own robust privacy and security measures to help protect your personal information. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies for further information about how they process your data.
